Laminate FAQ

Can I lay laminates over my existing floor covering?

Laminates have to be laid on an even and level substrate. The ideal floor to lay a laminate on would be screed or cement that has been tested to ensure that it is totally level. Laminates can be laid on top of tiles although once again they must be even. Laminates cannot be laid on any type of existing wood or on a carpet.

What do I clean my laminate floor with?

  • Wipe any spills immediately with an absorbent towel or cloth
  • Regularly remove dust with a vacuum cleaner or broom
  • Do not wash your floor with a soaking mop or cloth, rather use a laminate cleaner to wipe the floor with a well wrung damp or moist cloth
  • Do not sand, polish, varnish or wax the floor as these treatments will adversely affect the intrinsic properties of the laminate floor
