Industry Standards

The membership of SAWLFA considers the setting and maintaining of standards for both product and installation as being imperative in satisfying consumer demands.

The South African Bureau of Standards is the only legitimate vehicle for providing such documentation in the form of standard specifications for products, stipulating minimum performance and quality requirements.

Installation requirements are laid down in the form of a Code of Practice, based on universal experience and recommended good practice.

The South African Bureau of Standards has reciprocal arrangements with counterparts throughout the world with consensus on universally accepted standards. Thus, many current European norms such as the EPLF are endorsed and applied together with South African standards tailored for the South African situation.
